I am very sorry that I am unable to send you the details of our journey as and when you need them. This is primarily due to my busy schedule in my parish. Although this is the cathedral Church, I do not have a secretary here to help me in office work. However, I understand your situation, your obligations to your community who has come forward to help the victims of tsunami. Anyway, herewith I am sending you the rest of the story I promised to send you long ago.

On the previous day of our journey to Kalmunai, the youth loaded the lorry with the goods and sent the lorry that evening itself. This is because it takes a long time for a lorry to reach Kalmunai. I went in my parish van with the youth on the following morning and caught up with the lorry half way. We reached Kalmunai around 9.30 in the morning and immediately got the help of the government soldiers in charge of the area to accompany us to the refugee camps. The soldiers were very corporative and two of them accompanied us to the refugee camps.

We visited about five refugee camps and distributed the items we took with us. It was interesting and at times tense too. In certain places people wanted more than what we could allocate for their families. What had happened was the people who gave us information had not counted certain families in those camps. So some of them were very disappointed that they did not receive anything. We took only 500 packages, but as we went along distributing help in these refugee camps there were more than 500 families. Anyway when everything was over it was around 3.00 in the evening and we had lunch around 3.30 in the evening and stared our journey back home around 4.30 in the evening. When we reached Kandy it was around 12.30 midnight. So this is in short what happened and when I meet you in December I will narrate more to you.
