Marian en Erik mochten de kleuterschool, samen met de bischop van Trincomalee en pater Robinson, openen. Een heel spektakel. De dorpelingen van Thirumalpulam waren heel blij met deze nieuwe kleuterschool. Bj de kleuterschool is ook een livelihoodprogramma ingezet. De ouders van de kinderen krijgen de komende 6 maanden een voedselpakkket om elke dag een goede maaltijd samen te stellen. Er zijn ook fruitbomen gepland. Er worden groententuintjes aangelegd. Een project die we samen met Wilde Ganzen hebben gefinancieerd. 

40 MM ging op 27 november 2023 langs bij kleuterschool. De school was bijna klaar.

Laying Foundation at Thirumalpuram Preschool

Thirumalpuram preschool – laying of the foundation took place on 14^th September 2023 at 9.30 a.m.

Rev.Fr. Dr. B. Paul Robinson laid the first foundation stone, followed with Mr. Chandravathanan, the Economic Development Officer and the. Samurthy Officer laid the foundation stones on behalf of the Divisional Secretariat, Kuchchaveli. 

Mr. Gajan, The RDS president, Ms. Rupadevi, The RDS Secretary, the preschool Teacher and a preschool student laid the foundation stones on behalf of Thirumalpuram village.

Mr. G. A.  Francis, the Programme Manager from the EHED Caritas, Trincomalee also laid the stone for the preschool.  Number of families from the village gathered in the laying of the foundation stones to the new preschool. All of them were happy to get a new preschool to the children of the village. A ¼ of an acre of land was allocated to this preschool. The RDS society will have to secure the land allocated by the Divisional Secretary, Kuchchavely.  And they said that they would make a fence for the land in the coming months. The RDS president thanked all the dignitaries present threat.

Er is een plan gemaakt om een nieuwe kleuterschool te bouwen in Thirumalpulam. Daarvoor is overleg geweest met EHED Critas Trincomalee en Wilde Ganzen. Zij hebben de plannen uitgewerkt. Er is grond beschikbaar voor de bouw. Wilde Ganzen heeft het project geaccepteerd en we kunnen gaan bouwen. Bij dit project ook een livelihoodproject om kleuters van goede voeding te voorzien. 

Objective of the project: -

1.    Providing access to preschool education by providing infrastructure facilities

     and basic knowledge to the children and a formation before they move into

     the formal education

Thirumalpuram Village is situated in the Pulmoddai Road in Kuchchaveli Divisional Secretary’s division and we need to go along this road and at Periyakulam  village, we have to branch of to  Thirumalpuram  which is situated at a remote corner  almost closer to the Periyakulam tank. This village comes under the Grama Niladahri division of Periyakulam.   Thirumal Puram is a war affected village and the families have been displaced in South India and returned to the island and resettled when the war ended in the year 2009. At the moment there are 175 families residing within the village. There is no educational institution within the village the grown-up children go walking to Periyakulam to attend the school. Present preschool is functioning in a temporary shelter which belongs to the Rural Development Society.   In our monitoring visit, we have found there were 18 preschool children. At the moment one teacher manages the children, all of them are up to 05 years old.  

The DS Kuchchaveli also supports us very much and the DS himself requested us to put up a preschool for the children of the Thirumalpuram Once the proposal is realized the rest of the approval will be taken from the respective Divisional Secretary and the educational authorities.
